Enterovirus D68 Confirmed in Texas
Texas has confirmed nine cases of enterovirus D68 among Texas residents, the first identified in 2014. The nine cases were among Texas residents treated at Dallas hospitals for respiratory illnesses between late July and early September. None was reported as part of an unusual cluster of illnesses.
People should protect themselves from respiratory illnesses by:
- Covering all coughs and sneezes.
- Washing hands frequently with soap and water.
- Avoiding touching eyes and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
- Staying home if sick.
