CISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES CALLS A MAY BOND ELECTION
The Charlotte ISD Board of Trustees approved an order calling for a $16,000,000 and a $4,000,000 May 4th bond election based on the recommendations of the Strategic Planning Committee. This bond will address the need to construct a new Elementary campus building and Athletic facilities with a priority on student safety, maintenance, and student growth.
The $16,000,000 bond proposal will be presented to voters as one proposition or Proposition A on the ballot. The tax rate impact on that will be $0.2212. Projects associated with the proposed bond proposal include:
- New Elementary building with:
- classrooms sized to meet current and future enrollment of 280 functional and 316 maximum to meet current and future instructional needs and support spaces.
- For student safety, all classrooms will be in one building
- Fine Arts spaces and Special Education spaces
The $4,000,000 bond proposal will be presented to voters as a second proposition or Proposition B on the ballot. The tax rate impact on that will be $0.0776. Projects associated with the proposed bond proposal include the addition and renovation of Athletic facilities to include:
- Athletic field house that will contain:
- Showers, locker rooms, team rooms, bathrooms, and laundry.
- Coaching office spaces
- Concessions and public bathrooms
